I was having similar issues. No buttons but to complicate things i was also unable to open sessions in new windows. With "display in new window" selected the remote session appeared in the same window but below the normal Remote Access page content.
I just cleared my cache and not only did my sessions start in a new window but i got the new VNC window which is much more useful.
