Re: Backup Solution Recommendation(s)

We are 9 months int a decision to switch all of our ahsay clients, except for a few where we are only backing up specific folders, over to storagecraft.  We are extremely happy with the results and the added peace of mind that I get from the reliability of storagecraft over ahsay.  Our team is spending about 12 hours less per week on backup remediation and are only 2/3 through the conversion project.

Storagecraft has its own thins to take into consideration, such as not being able to exclude files from backup.  So our engineers have to save images and downloads that they usually put on the data drive somewhere else to avoid adding to th customer backup space.  But we are pleased.  I certainly recommend doing an extensive demo and testing out the replication and make sure everything works in your environment.  Also,  the size of data we are backing up for clients greatly increased in most cases.  So we had to reduce prices for some customers so that they did not experience an incredible price jump.  With a little better customer communication, I think we could have avoided that.

With the ability to mount the backup image quickly, or to boot it as a virtual server we have been able to add a disaster recovery service to the offering.

The conversion has taken longer than we expected.  We convert 1-2 clients per week.  We provide an external drive if the client does not already have one, to stir the backup images on site.  We also deliver a drive that we use to copy the initial backup image to the data center.  The installation of storagecraft requires a reboot, so some coordination with that is involved.

So far, the major downside we have seen as far as integration with Kaseya, is not having the image manager replication piece integrated yet.  It is coming.
