Thanks for the replies everyone, let me add a few details:
- The agent in question apparently is getting its settings from a server template. It was configured incorrectly. So we don't want to change the server template. I suppose we could change every other server to use a different template, and then disable alerting on that server template, but that would be a lot of work.
- We don't want to uninstall the agent, just disable offline alerting.
- We can't control the settings for this old agent, it is floating around this client on a USB stick or something. The settings for the default agents that are on dl.asp are correct, it is just this old agent.
So the desired ideal solution would be something like, a procedure that runs after an agent checks in to an 'unmanaged' group, that checks for any offline alerts, and then disables them. I have already had some experience writing "first time checkin" procedures - if it is possible to disable alerts or change an agent template programatically, that would be the best.
