What do you use as a working alternative to KRC?

$

As usual with Kaseya's long time policy to not care about their user base and software functionality and roll out new (non-working) features anyways...  I would like to know what "other" software you are using as a working KRC alternative AND if you have found a way to integrate it into Kaseya.

I have started playing with "Screen Connect" but have yet to integrate it into Kaseya although I have heard you can do it.

(The sad part is, this is the same problem (non reliable remote control) we had with Nable before we left for Kaseya.  I think it may be time to start shopping for a new management platform again...

We just put a link to our team viewer portal in the Kaseya icon. We can't use any remote control features of Kaseya, LCOD, RDP. Way too slow.  No tech will use it. Kaseya support had no answers. So we stuck with team viewer.

We are seeing similar issue for some of our techs where running KRC will destroy the performance of the machine that the engineer is using. As soon as they quit KRC the performance goes back to normal again. Some people are not seeing the performance issue but are seeing the shift and ctrl key issues and a couple of guys get their mouse buttons reversed every now and again when they quit a KRC session.

I have ticket 197946 open for these performance problems and support have the results of gatherlogs for some affected machines but nothing is happening.

We have always seen kaseyaremotecontrolhost.exe and kaseya.agentendpoint.exe chew CPU cycles during RC sessions. The exact load varies widely [most of the time it's minimal load] but on some machines I've seen it it monopolize a complete core. I'll bet on an old, single core system it would be hell if that happened.

Not sure what triggers the condition, I'll try to nail an agent that consistently shows the issue.

Is there a list of all of the supported 3rd party apps and how do we get notifications as new apps are added.

Acronis Backup Fails Verification on Domain Controllers

$

We have two DCs which are backed up every day using the Acronis agent through Kaseya. The backup job runs fine but the verify stage consistently fails with the following error:

Verify failed - An error occurred while executing the command.| Error: 0x1510008| $module = "acrocmd_vs_43800"| Tag: 0x7A8E520180FDC065|Failed to find backup URI by the backup's ID.| Error: 0x1510020| $module = "abr11cli_vs_43800"| Tag: 0xE950A7F7D9718F7

I've had a look online but can find nothing specifically relating to this. Also backup jobs on the other servers using Kaseya/Acronis appear to be working fine.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks in advance.

View Multiple Screens in Live Connect

When connecting to a machine via Live Connect, it will always show DISPLAY1 in the preview window.

Is there a way to see the other screens the user may have?

Trying to find the easiest way to see what the user is doing, without them knowing.

Cheers

Thanks Jeffrey.

For me prob the best way, would be an option probably under the screen thumbnail with a dropdown of which display to show. So you just toggle between which screen you want to see.

I guess the other option is to expand the thumbnail window to show all screens.

RE: KSubscribers Transaction Logs

How big is your dB overall? How many agents?

I'm going to bet that there's absolutely nothing unusual there. Just typical VSA activity. Obsessing about transaction log size is like worrying about what eh color green smells like - kind of pointless :)

If your DBA is that concerned, ask him/her to show you the SQL queries that generated the activity, and backtrack from there.

At the VSA level, look for VSA system maintenance [check the system log], scheduled agent procedures, audits, triggered alerts, etc. as possible sources of activity.

KSubscribers Transaction Logs

Hi

Our DBA has just shown me that our ksubscribers_log TRN file jumped up to 2.7GB for one hour this morning at 3am - it's normally about 15k.

Any suggestions?

Classuc BUDR (Acronis 11.5) or Cloud Backup? What destination are you backing up to?  Can you do a successful restore from the backup image (e.g. to a test environment)?

RE: Windows 10 Creators Update - available?

An update on this - the Windows 10 Update Assistant (see link above) does in fact support silent installation, like this:

Windows10Upgrade.exe /QuietInstall /SkipEULA

We've created a procedure that uses the 'executefile' step and runs the above as 'system' and so far upgraded about a dozen machines from earlier Windows 10 builds. Be aware the download is around 2.5GB which includes the OS and the latest cumulative updates that get installed as part of the upgrade process. Also note it doesn't support Windows 10 Enterprise.

I've seen questions on how to block Windows 10 Creators Update from updating via Kaseya.  But so far, I have not seen it available in our avail patches.  Does anyone know if this will be coming via the KB that has been used for other updates (3012973)?  We would like it to deploy.

RE: Install MSI for All Users

You could try the InstallMSI() step - help.kaseya.com/.../9030000

Is there a reason you need to use the /jm switch (which looks like it advertises or stages the package rather than installing it) rather than the usual /i switch?

Knowing Telstra they've probably packaged the MSI in a way that makes it impossible to deploy ;)

Install MSI for All Users

Hey there. Having some trouble getting an MSI to install.

I've tried running as Shell Command:

msiexec.exe /jm "c:\kworking\files\UC-One.msi" /quiet /norestart /log "c:\kworking\files\uc-onelog.log"

I've also tried using Execute File:

Path being c:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe and argument being /jm "c:\kworking\files\UC-One.msi" /quiet /norestart /log "c:\kworking\files\uc-onelog.log"

I keep getting the error:

"Product: TIPT UC-One -- Error 1945. You do not have sufficient privileges to complete the re-advertisement of this product. Re-advertisement requires initiation by a local system account calling the MsiAdvertiseScript API, such as through Group Policy Software Deployment."

I've tried running the Shell Command as SYSTEM and as User, and i've tried using the Impersonate User and UseCredential options.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Highlights don't clear after searching in tickets

We also had this issue on our previous server that we ran for ten years...all the way up to 9.3.  With version 9.4 we went through the painful exercise of starting fresh....fresh server install and fresh db.  However, we still see that after running a search in ticketing, the green highlighting stick forever.  As this is fresh install, I have to believe we are not alone in this....anyone have a way to clear the highlights?

Thanks

Why might this AP fail? (MSP Assist users might know)

Hi all,

I was given this procedure by Kaseya Pro Services but haven't been able to get on to them and looking to tie a task off quickly.

The procedure is meant to create a ticket on the Kaseya Service desk, which then creates the configuration item in ConnectWise. It's a simple enough procedure and i understand (for the most part) the content, but it fails when i run it and i don't know why.

It fails on line 14 & 15. Any thoughts on why this might happen? There's probably a huge gap in my knowledge. If it gets resolved before anyone replies i'll let the thread know how it was resolved.

If that picture doesn't work, i've pasted the XML below - fails on line 56

RE: Install MSI for All Users

Thanks Combo

I was using the /jm switch to install for 'all users'. I think I must have mis understood what that switch did.

Basically when you run the installer normally, the option to install for All Users is unticked, so figured I needed to configure somehow to install for all users, not just current user.
